Walking in Discernment: Listening When God Speaks

Hey there! — We are so glad you’re here today.
Whether you visit these posts for encouragement, a moment of peace, or simply to grow a little closer to God, we want you to know how much we appreciate you. It’s an honor to walk this journey of faith with you.

Before we dive in, here’s your affirmation for today:

Biblical Affirmation of the Day

“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it.’” — Isaiah 30:21

Spend some time in prayer on this matter
Holy Spirit, help me recognize Your voice and follow the path You place before me.

Let’s Talk About Discernment

This morning, God pressed on my heart to share the importance of discernment. Not just the idea of it — but truly understanding the gift it is. Discernment is one of the most powerful tools the Holy Spirit gives us, yet it’s also one of the easiest to overlook.

We’ve all had those moments where a quiet nudge, a sudden pause, or a tug in our spirit tried to warn us… and we completely ignored it. Maybe it was a decision we rushed into. A relationship we stayed in too long. A habit that slowly drained us. Or a door God clearly wanted closed while we kept trying to push it open.

And afterward we think to ourselves, “Something told me not to do that…”
But friend — it wasn’t just “something.”
It was Someone.

Discernment is God’s way of guiding us, protecting us, and keeping our hearts aligned with His will. It’s like a spiritual compass that always points toward truth.

Why Discernment Matters

When we ignore discernment, we often choose the comfortable path instead of the right one. But when we lean into it — even when it feels uncomfortable or inconvenient — we position ourselves to receive God’s best.

Discernment helps us:

  1. Recognize what is from God and what is not

  2. Protect our peace, our purpose, and our time

  3. Avoid traps, distractions, and unnecessary heartache

  4. Strengthen our relationship with the Holy Spirit

  5. Make decisions rooted in wisdom instead of emotion

It’s not about being perfect.
It’s about being prayerful.

And like any relationship, our connection with the Holy Spirit grows as we spend more time listening, trusting, and responding to His voice.

Growing in Discernment

You don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t have to see the whole picture. God isn’t asking for perfection — He’s asking for openness.

Here are a few simple ways to strengthen discernment daily:

  • Pause before reacting. Give the Holy Spirit room to speak.

  • Pray for clarity. God always responds to those who seek Him.

  • Read scripture consistently. His Word sharpens our spiritual insight.

  • Pay attention to your peace. Peace is a powerful indicator of God’s guidance. He does not come with confusion.

  • Trust the first nudge. The Holy Spirit often speaks softly, not loudly.

A Final Word from The Heart

As I grow this business with my mother, we constantly rely on discernment to guide our steps — creatively, spiritually, and personally. The same Holy Spirit who leads us in Called To Create is the same One who leads you in your daily life.

My hope is that as you read these posts, you’re reminded of how deeply God cares about every decision you make — big or small. He hasn’t left you to figure it out alone. He’s speaking, guiding, and walking with you every step of the way.

And I pray today’s reminder encourages you to pause, listen, and lean in just a little closer.

You were Called To Create — with intention, with purpose, and with discernment.
